Real Madrid return to La Liga after an embarrassing 3-0 defeat to Arsenal in the first leg of the Champions League quarter-final last week as they face Deportivo Alaves at the Estadio de Mendizorroza on matchday 31 of the Spanish top flight.
Having been beaten by Valencia last weekend, the team will look to hit back against their relegation-battling opponents and clinch an important win to ease some pressure off their shoulders.
Dani Ceballos makes his return to the travelling squad after a few weeks out injured but Andriy Lunin, Dani Carvajal, Eder Militao and Ferland Mendy are still unfit, thus remaining absent. Carlo Ancelotti will also not be in the dugout after an enforced suspension owing to picking up five yellow cards.
That said, here is a look at the likely Real Madrid starting eleven.
Goalkeeper – Thibaut Courtois
Courtois made his return to action after a muscular discomfort with against Arsenal and is set to be deployed in goal once more against Alaves.
Right Back – Lucas Vazquez
Vazquez will replace Federico Valverde at right back having been excluded from the line-up on Tuesday.
Centre Back – Raul Asencio
Asencio may play as the central defender having become one of the first names on the team-sheet lately.
Centre Back – Aurelien Tchouameni
Tchouameni might replace Antonio Rudiger in the heart of the backline with the German likely to be rested ahead of the midweek Champions League return leg against Arsenal.
Left Back – Fran Garcia
Fran Garcia may re-enter the fore having been benched in favour of David Alaba last time out.
Defensive Midfielder – Eduardo Camavinga
Camavinga is suspended for the second leg against Arsenal, so he might be handed a second straight start in all competitions as the team’s number six.
Right Midfielder – Federico Valverde
Valverde might slot into the midfielder with Vazquez taking up the right back’s role against Alaves.
Left Midfielder – Jude Bellingham
Bellingham keeps the team ticking in most games, so he may be employed in midfield once more in spite of being extensively used in recent outings.
Right Winger – Brahim Diaz
Rodrygo Goes may rest after a few underwhelming displays, so Brahim may receive the nod on the right wing.
Striker – Kylian Mbappe
Mbappe is perhaps the best performing Real Madrid attacker for several weeks and will continue to lead the line versus Alaves.
Left Winger – Vinicius Junior
Vinicius could play on the left flank once more as he faces a race against time to regain his form.
