Celtic are looking at loan options for the left-back role in the closing stages of the January transfer window.
The Bhoys have reached a pre-contract agreement with Arsenal to sign Kieran Tierney next summer on a free transfer.
The Scottish left-back has few months left on his current deal, and Celtic have persuaded him to return to his old club. He will join the Bhoys on a four-year deal in the summer.
The Hoops were in talks to bring him in January on loan, but Arsenal are not ready to sanction the move.
Arsenal have Riccardo Califiori and Myles Lewis-Skelly available to play left-back, but Mikel Arteta is still reluctant to lose Tierney in the January window.
Alex Valle has also left Celtic. He joined in the summer on loan from Barcelona. The Catalan giants have recalled him, and have sent him on loan to Como.
As a result, Celtic are left with Greg Taylor as their only recognised left-back.
The Scottish champions are now looking to bring a new left-back on loan, and they are interested in signing Manchester United defender Tyrell Malacia.
Celtic face competition from Real Betis for the 25-year-old defender, who has returned to action from an 18-month absence caused by a knee meniscus injury in November.
Man Utd are willing to listen to offers for Malacia, and Celtic must submit a formal loan bid to get his signature.
The Dutch left-back has made only two starts in the Premier League and made three appearances in the Europa League.
Moreover, Malacia should further drop down the pecking order after United have wrapped up a deal with Lecce for defender Patrick Dorgu.
Malacia should be a handy back-up option for Taylor at left-back, and a loan move suits all parties involved.
