Championship side Hull City has agreed a loan deal with Southampton for defender Charlie Taylor. However, the defender's agreement is yet to arrive, which would seal the deal.

Southampton is on a departure spree currently. Aware of an already gigantic squad at their disposal, the Saints are thinning the unnecessary layers off their roster.

After Ronnie Edwards left on loan, Ben Brereton Diaz departed Southampton recently. Furthermore, the club seems close to agreeing to another loan move.

The player being talked about here is Saints defender Charlie Taylor.

Having struggled for game time under Russell Martin, Taylor had been keen on a January exit. But with Ivan Juric's arrival, the 31-year-old hoped for a change.

Sadly, scenarios changed, but for the worse. In around a month, Taylor has only received 45 minutes under the Croatian, with his only appearance coming against Brentford.

For a defender who is believed to spark a relegation comeback, this is certainly a difficult situation. Luckily for Taylor, he feels close to an exit which might suit all the parties involved.

According to the Sky Sports live blog, Championship side Hull City has agreed a loan move with Southampton for signing Charlie Taylor. Still, Taylor's final approval is yet to come to finalize the move.

But, as it feels, it shouldn't be longer till Charlie Taylor affirms the move. Though an agreement here would see Taylor return to the Championship, the game-time starved man wouldn't regret a departure.

Currently, the loan exit appears to be a win-win situation for all, but Hull might extract the maximum benefit from it.

The most obvious of all, Charlie Taylor's addition would fill the void left by Ryan Giles' exit. Further, the 31-year-old's incoming brings a ton of Championship experience to the relegation-battling Hull side.

As it stands, currently, Taylor is close to leaving for a loan spell till the end of the season. But it shouldn't be surprising in case he has already played his final game for the Saints.
