Chelsea cannot rely on world class player – but he can help major problem right now | OneFootball

After winning 8 in a row in all competitions Chelsea were flying, but that’s quickly turned into quite the wobble.

They went from that successful string to 4 without a win, despite easy opposition. Their real problem right now is creating and scoring chances, and one thing that can give them a boost when they return to league action a week from now is the returning Reece James.

The full back has been in team training for a couple of weeks and has appeared on the bench for the first team too. After yet another significant spell out, he’s soon ready to play again. He didn’t feature against Crystal Palace when we expected a cameo, but we know from Enzo Maresca that the club captain is ready to feature in a limited capacity already.

Malo Gusto has really struggled to offer attacking threat down the right, which is hurting the teams’ attacking potential. James’ return could give us an instant boost in that area.

We’ve said it many times before, and we’ll say it again: James’ body appears to be broken beyond repair, and he can no longer be relied upon as a first choice player in terms of squad building. His availability is only ever a bonus – but WHAT a bonus.

With a perfectly times game against Morecambe to get some minutes in his legs this weekend, we should see him back in league action in the matches to follow. He should provide exactly the attacking threat down the right that Gusto isn’t providing right now. And we can’t wait to see it. Like every time James returns, it’s always a thrill to see him out there doing his thing.
