Chelsea have surprise Premier League duo under consideration ahead of potential moves | OneFootball

Chelsea are considering Bournemouth duo Dean Huijsen and Ilya Zabarnyi as they look to sign a new centre back according to reports.

The Blues have made a good start to the season and currently sit third, just one point behind Arsenal in second place and a point clear of surprise package Nottingham Forest in fourth.

The Boxing Day defeat to Fulham was just Chelsea’s third of the campaign and the Blues remain well on track to qualify for the Champions League next season.

Chelsea considering move for Bournemouth duo

The Blues are expected to be quiet in the upcoming January window, with the main focus thought to be on moving players on.

The club will be keen to find solutions for Ben Chilwell and Carney Chukwuemeka, whilst Cesare Casadei is believed to have multiple suitors.

It’s no secret the Blues are looking for a new centre back, although any signing will depend on a defender leaving, most likely to be Axel Disasi, although it remains to bee seen how likely a January departure is for the Frenchman.

Benfica’s Tomas Araujo is a player the Blues are thought to admire, but Chelsea are bound to have other names of their list.

Mail Sport have reported that Bournemouth duo Huijsen and Zabarnyi are under consideration by the Blues with French giants Paris Saint Germain also considering whether to make a move or not.

Huijsen only arrived at Bournemouth from Juventus in the summer but has made a positive impact on the south coast, scoring two goals in 12 league appearances, although at 19 years old, the Blues might be looking for someone slightly more experienced.

Zabarnyi fits Chelsea’s age profile at 22 and joined the Cherries from Ukrainian club Dynamo Kyiv in January 2023, and has started all 18 of Bournemouth’s league matches.

Both players represent interesting options, but it’s unclear what kind of fee the Cherries would command and whether Chelsea will step up their interest, but the duo are certainly talented and exciting prospects for the future.
