Chelsea’s Champions League push took a knock as they were held to a thrilling 2-2 draw by Ipswich at Stamford Bridge.
Despite dominating early on, the Blues were stunned when Julio Enciso, on loan from Brighton, slid in Ben Johnson’s cross to bag his first goal for Ipswich.
Enciso was at it again before the break, this time turning provider with a pinpoint chip to the back post where Johnson headed home his first of the season, giving the visitors a shock two-goal lead going into half-time.
Chelsea came out firing in the second half and got an instant lifelin - Axel Tuanzebe accidentally turned the ball into his own net just 20 seconds in.
The equaliser finally came ten minutes from time when super-sub Jadon Sancho curled a beauty into the top corner from a slick short-corner routine.
The Blues piled on the pressure, with Trevor Chalobah and Pedro Neto both nearly grabbing a winner, but the draw means Chelsea stay fifth - three points off third-placed Nottingham Forest and only ahead of sixth-place Aston Villa on goal difference.
As for Ipswich, they’re still 14 points from safety after Wolves’ big win over Spurs at Molineux.
