Blues secure deal for talented teenage forward as youth drive continues at Stamford Bridge
Chelsea have signed 16-year-old wonderkid Dastan Satpaev, with the Kazakhstani forward to join the Blues when he turns 18.
Satpaev currently plays for reigning Kazakhstan Premier League champions FC Kairat Almaty.
Kairat have confirmed that Satpaev will head to Stamford Bridge on a five-year deal that includes the option of a further year once he turns 18, which is not until August 2026.
It comes after the teenager had a successful trial at Chelsea back in November.
Chelsea will pay a fee worth £3.3million including add-ons, which is a record transfer for a player from the Kazakh Premier League.
Almaty-born Satpaev is a Kazakhstan Under-17 international and has scored four goals in 10 appearances for his country at that level.
While his favoured position is centre-forward, he can also play as a left-sided winger.
A statement from Kairat confirming the transfer stated that Satpaev’s achievements include becoming the youngest first-team player in club history when he debuted at the age of 15 in May 2024.
Chelsea’s current oldest outfield player is 27-year-old Tosin Adarabioyo, and their strategy has been to recruit young talents since the Todd Boehly-Clearlake Capital consortium took over the club back in May 2022.
While a number of players left Chelsea on loan in January, the club’s only permanent addition was 19-year-old midfielder Mathis Amougou, who joined from Saint-Etienne in France.
