Manchester City will play Chelsea in March’s Subway League Cup final.

The Blues sealed our place in the showpiece occasion, to be played at Pride Park, thanks to a dramatic late winner from Mary Fowler against Arsenal.

Fowler, who had opened the scoring and missed a penalty at Meadow Park, fired home in the 96th minute to earn City a 2-1 win over the Gunners.

Gareth Taylor’s side had reached the semi-finals in each of the last two seasons, but have now set up clash with Chelsea on Saturday 15 March with kick-off set for 12:15 (UK).

Chelsea earned their spot with a 2-0 win over West Ham United having beaten Durham in the quarter-finals.

City also entered the competition at the last eight stage after qualifying for the Champions League group stages and got the better of Manchester United in our opening fixture.

It’s a rerun of the 2022 final, which the Blues won 3-1 at AFC Wimbledon’s Plough Lane.

City mounted a second half comeback with a Caroline Weir double and Ellen White strike seeing us claim the League Cup for a fourth time in our history.

But now the two sides will do battle once again at Pride Park for the first piece of silverware available this season.
