Now that Liverpool's eight-season wonder has signed a contract extension you expect his future to finally be secure, but clubs are still keeping a close eye on the winger.

Whenever Mohamed Salah does anything, everyone sits back and takes not. His new deal to remain on Merseyside until 2027 might have raised some eyebrows, but not everyone is ready to give up yet.

Of course, the next two seasons are guaranteed. Liverpool will have the option of selling him next season, but it seems incredibly likely that the Egyptian will see out the next two seasons.

His output in front of goal has never wavered and while the 32-year-old is naturally expected to slow down eventually, his track record tells a different story - especially given how he has dominated this year's campaign, delivering 33 goals and 23 assists with three games still to go.

As such, the prospect of Salah still being a useful asset when he is 34 going on 35 is one that clubs are well aware of and so it's plausible that the closing act of his career might not be at Anfield.

Al Ahli remain interested in bring Salah to Saudi Arabia

Naturally, you can be rest assured that any approaches for Salah this summer will be dismissed, despite the fact that financial offers can now be proposed to him as he is a fully contracted player.

And as mentioned, what the player might want in two years is still to be decided.

But Al Ahli are positioning themselves at the front of the queue to sign Salah in the future.

A report from Arabi21 included includes quotes from Khaled Al-Eissa, the president of Al-Ahli. He said: "Saudi football, under the vision of the Crown Prince (Mohamed bin Salman), was interested in all international players. The Crown Prince's vision made the Kingdom a preferred destination (for players) and most players are looking to play in the Kingdom.

"We are interested in all international players. Captain Mohamed Salah is definitely at the top of the list, and we are happy to have him in Saudi Arabia. God willing, at the right time, he will be with one of the Saudi clubs."

Al-Ahli are not the biggest clubs in Saudi Arabia but they have recently become AFC Champions League Elite champions and also have Roberto Firmino playing for them.
