Blues also have concerns over Enzo Fernandez, Romeo Lavia and Levi Colwill ahead of Monday night game in Premier League

Enzo Maresca has revealed that Cole Palmer is among several key new injury doubts for Chelsea’s Premier League clash with Wolves.

The Blues are also sweating on the fitness of Levi Colwill, Enzo Fernandez and Romeo Lavia ahead of the game at Stamford Bridge on Monday night.

Speaking on Friday, manager Maresca said: “We have Cole, he is a doubt. Levi was not in the session today.

“Enzo was not in the session today. Romeo was not in the session today. We have three or four doubts after the last game.”

On Palmer specifically, Maresca said: “First half [against Bournemouth], they kicked him. He didn’t train today. We don’t know if he’s going to train tomorrow or in two days. It is the same with Romeo, with Enzo, and with Levi.”

Like Palmer, centre-back Colwill also suffered a knock in Tuesday night’s dramatic 2-2 draw with Bournemouth that saw captain Reece James come off the bench to net a last-gasp equaliser from a free-kick after going down and needing treatment in the second half, but he too played on.

Midfield duo Fernandez and Lavia both started against the Cherries, the latter making his first league appearance for more than a month after returning from a hamstring injury against fourth-tier strugglers Morecambe in the FA Cup last weekend, but are now understood to each be dealing with muscle fatigue.

Chelsea are already without defenders Wesley Fofana and Benoit Badiashile due to hamstring injuries, while summer signing Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall has also been sidelined of late.

Mykhailo Mudryk remains unavailable, meaning Maresca could be without as many as eight first-team players against Wolves as he attempts to snap a recent worrying slump in form that has seen his side fail to win any of their last five league games to go from potential title contenders to falling out of the top four altogether, having won the previous five in a row before that.

Chelsea have tried to address their defensive injuries by recalling Trevoh Chalobah and summer signing Aaron Anselmino from their respective loan spells at Crystal Palace and Boca Juniors, with Tosin Adarabioyo likely in position to start if Colwill cannot play against Wolves.

Young full-back Josh Acheampong made his second consecutive league start alongside Colwill in central defence against Bournemouth after impressing in the 1-1 draw at Palace earlier this month, though was beaten by Antoine Semenyo for the visitors’ second goal.

Axel Disasi, meanwhile, joined the likes of Ben Chilwell, Cesare Casadei and Carney Chukwuemeka in not even making the matchday squad on Tuesday, with a January exit possible amid reported interest from the likes of Juventus and Bayer Leverkusen. Tosin and Disasi were the chosen centre-back pairing in the FA Cup.
