La Liga giants Barcelona have on Tuesday announced a blow on the personnel front in the club’s first-team ranks.
This comes amid confirmation that Iñigo Martínez has been condemned to an incoming spell on the sidelines.
Defender Iñigo for his part set alarm bells sounding in Catalunya’s capital on Sunday evening.
This came after the Spaniard – a mainstay in Hansi Flick’s defensive setup this season – was forced into a first-half departure from the Blaugrana’s Super Cup final showdown with Real Madrid.
As much proved the sole negative on an otherwise stellar night’s work for Barcelona.
All of a Barca persuasion had since been awaiting an update on the wellbeing of their side’s defensive stalwart with bated breath.
And, as alluded to above, on Tuesday, precisely as much has come to the fore.
As per a statement across the social media platforms of the Catalan club:
‘Tests conducted this morning confirmed that I. Martínez has suffered a right hamstring tear. He is expected to be out for around 4 weeks.’
