CEO Giorgio Furlani is about to get into the heart of picking AC Milan’s next sporting director, and Tony D’Amico’s name remains standing.

As Corriere dello Sport (via MilanNews) reports this morning, until a week ago there was a rush to find out who could be the new sporting director at Milan. Furlani’s trip to the USA to meet Gerry Cardinale changed things though, and the pursuit will now take place in a more calm way.

In short, there is no rush. Making a wrong decision on an issue such as this could also negatively impact next season and beyond for the Rossoneri. Given this, it is difficult to think that the choice will be made after just one meeting with the main candidates.

More will be needed, which is why things will be done in the right time. Igli Tare and Fabio Paratici are the most popular names, but the paper adds that Furlani has had a meeting with D’Amico, who has been working for Atalanta since 2022.

The names of Paratici, Tare and D’Amico show a clear intention to hire a director with a strong knowledge of Italian football and experience within it, who has the ability to select players and manage them between the dressing room, training ground and in tough moments.

Furthermore, the CEO wants the next SD to have broad views and the ability to move on a broader spectrum in the sporting area. In all of this, foreign solutions cannot be ruled out, even if at the moment this option is slightly more unlikely.
