One of the major priorities for Manchester City this month is to sign a midfielder. Rodri’s injury has left a sizable void in Pep Guardiola’s side. As City look for a midfielder to sign a new player has been named as a potential target for the world champions. That is Eintracht Frankfurt midfielder Hugo Larsson. The young midfielder has impressed this season and looks destined for great things. So could City launch a double raid on Eintracht Frankfurt this month? The idea is sound but the reality may be something different.

A new report for GIVEMESPORT from Dean Jones and Danny Rust names Hugo Larsson as a potential player Manchester City may target this month. The GIVEMESPORT report adds that Arsenal are also interested in the young midfielder. Jones and Rust add that City have already informed Eintracht Frankfurt of their intention to reach an agreement to sign Omar Marmoush this month. Now Hugo Larsson is looming as a player City could also move for. Lastly, Jones and Rust report that a fee of around £70 million may be required to prise Larson out of Eintracht Frankfurt this month.

Hugo Larsson ticks a lot of boxes that Manchester City require in a midfielder, but it may be too tough a deal to complete this month.

So far this season Hugo Larsson has had an impressive campaign for Eintracht Frankfurt. The Swedish midfielder has made 22 appearances in all competitions. He has scored 4 goals and added an assist in those games. But that doesn’t tell the story of Larsson’s impressive campaign. His ability to dictate the midfield battle has been a key feature of his play.

Hugo Larsson has played in the heart of Eintracht Frankfurt’s midfield all season. The young midfielder is a versatile player who can play in a variety of midfield roles. He can play as a deep-lying playmaker, as a box-to-box midfielder or as a traditional defensive midfielder. Larsson has the tactical ability to play all roles well. A standout feature of his play this season has been his ability to pick out a pass. He is adept at maintaining possession and can also play long balls. That skill set would be a fine addition to Manchester City’s midfield. He also reads the game well defensively, which aids him in breaking up Eintracht Frankfurt’s opponents’ play. He times his challenges well, and for a player so young, he looks to have a poise and maturity to his play that is well beyond his years. It wouldn’t be a surprise to see Larsson develop into a fine midfielder in time.

But would Eintracht Frankfurt sell two key players this month? That’s the major issue if Manchester City decide that Hugo Larsson is a player they’d like to sign. As Jones and Rust report City are making their move for Omar Marmoush. Based on that fact alone it’s hard to see Eintracht Frankfurt selling Hugo Larsson as well as Marmoush. Eintracht are chasing Champions League football this season and won’t want to severely weaken their team. That fact could scupper any chance of City signing Larsson this month.

While Hugo Larsson is a quality player with high potential it would appear to be likely that he will be sold in the summer rather than this month. It wouldn’t be a surprise to see him move to a bigger club in the summer based on his obvious talent and potential. But it’s just to hard to see Eintracht Frankfurt selling two key players this month. So for now Hugo Larsson may be a player City monitor ahead of a potential summer move rather then pursue a January deal for the Swedish midfielder.
