Date and kick-off time confirmed for City’s PL2 final clash with Southampton | OneFootball

City’s Premier League 2 play-off final against Southampton has been confirmed for Thursday 22 May.

Ben Wilkinson’s Elite Development Squad will take to the Joie Stadium pitch for one final time in 2024/25 when we take on the Saints in a 19:15 (UK) kick-off.

City’s youngsters progressed to the final after a 2-0 win over Manchester United in the semi-final.

Prior to that, extra time was needed for our EDS squad to overcome Liverpool and Arsenal in what has already been a fantastic season in the Premier League 2.

Our opponents secured their place in the showpiece after play-off wins over Leicester, Fulham and Crystal Palace – two of which also required 120 minutes to decide a winner.

In the league phase, Saints placed seventh with 10 wins and 34 points.

It’s our first encounter with the south coast side in 2024/25, with Southampton one of five teams we did not play within the 20 Gameweeks prior to the play-offs.
