Deco provides update on Hansi Flick’s Barcelona future | OneFootball

Barcelona sporting director Deco has on Wednesday spoken out on the future of head coach Hansi Flick.

German tactician Flick is of course in the midst of what has been an altogether impressive debut campaign in Catalunya’s capital to date.

The former Bayern Munich headmaster has guided Barcelona to glory in the Spanish Super Cup, whilst still being alive and well in the race for all of La Liga, the Copa del Rey, and Champions League.

The Blaugrana did endure one particularly underwhelming run of results late last year, but the general consensus is that Flick has done an excellent job thus far.

Such impressive form has given rise to inevitable chatter in the media when it comes to a potential new contract for the 59-year-old.

Speaking during an interview with Diario Sport on Wednesday, it therefore came as little surprise when the subject of as much was put to the aforementioned Deco.

And the Portuguese went on to call for patience, in responding:

“Here we go too fast in everything, don’t we? Here we go from euphoria to despair in minutes. Of course, when things go well it has already happened with other coaches as well, who have renewed. It is the natural and normal sequence of a project that works, in which things are on the right track.

“We have won a title, we have played well and the sensations are good. This is the most important thing, what people want and what the culé partner needs. We are also happy with the work that is being done on a daily basis. From here, if you have to get to a moment of this (renew), it will come. I think that now, neither for him nor for us, the priority is to talk about this.”
