The Eddie Howe Bournemouth Press Conference has taken place.
The Newcastle United Head Coach speaking to the media ahead of Saturday afternoon’s game.
United making a swift return to St James’ Park after the victory over Wolves on Wednesday.
Bournemouth the opposition, as Newcastle look to make it ten wins in a row.
Eddie Howe’s side looking to add another victory to those over Leicester, Brentford, Ipswich, Villa, Man U, Spurs, Arsenal, Bromley and Wolves.
Eddie Howe Bournemouth press conference on Friday:
“I like a lot about how they [Bournemouth] play.
“I think they are never out of a game, if you look at them consistently, they have had some remarkable turnarounds in games.
“I think back to Everton and several other games where they have had a real late period of momentum in the game, Ipswich the same, and ended up winning the game.
“Their spirit is undeniable and in their performances you can see the togetherness that they play with, Andoni deserves huge credit for the job he’s done and the style of play they’ve implemented there.
“They are very difficult to play against, very fast-paced and aggressive.
“It’s going to be a really good game tomorrow with two teams with mirroring styles, although slightly different in how it’s constructed. It will be two teams trying to win, that’s for sure.”
Eddie Howe on the NUFC approach to a potentially record-breaking weekend:
“We’ve actually been quite relaxed during this run, we’ve not focused on it, we’ve not talked about it internally, we’ve just gone on to the next game.
“We’re certainly not going to change now.
“It will just be about Bournemouth and making sure we perform in the right way.
“I’m relaxed on these things.
“I know it’s something for everyone to talk about and of course we want to win, and we want to keep the run going as long as we can, but it is always about how we play.”
Eddie Howe on a tight and congested Premier League table:
“It is an unusual Premier League season in terms of the league table, very tight and congested.
“I think every team going right the way down the league will look at it and think ‘if we can get some consistent results together, we could be in the mix’.
“I think it works both ways, so now we have to guard against falling off from where we have been.
“We have really enjoyed the run, we have put ourselves in a really good position, now it’s about foot to the floor and trying to win more.”
Eddie Howe on the mindset of his players:
“The players have been very mature in their response in this winning run.
“The players are seeing this as an expectation they have, rather than surpassing expectations.
“They are keeping the focus.
“There is a belief in the squad that we have good players and we can win games.
“For us it is just about remaining focused and looking ahead to the next game.”
Eddie Howe on Fabian Schar who missed the Wolves match through illness:
“We wll make a decision on Fabi.
“He trained yesterday but was not 100 percent himself, in terms of his wellbeing.
“He has had a nasty cough, it was a nasty illness.
“So we will see how he has recovered and then make a decision as to whether he is fit enough to be involved.”
Eddie Howe on the likes of Sven Botman in particular, playing two games only 63 hours apart:
“We monitor all the players.
“It’s a quick turnaround with it being the early kick-off, so we lose a couple of hours there.
“We will try to make the right decisions for the team, the squad and the individuals.”
Eddie Howe on Nick Pope:
“I think tomorrow might be a little bit too early but certainly he is going to be close for next week [at Southampton].
“He’s not trained with us yet but he is certainly building up to that moment.
“We are happy with where he is at.
“Mentally, he is getting there ready to play.”
