Ederson sets record for most Premier League assists by a goalkeeper | OneFootball

Ederson's chip for Omar Marmoush's first strike against Newcastle United means he has now contributed more assists than any other goalkeeper in Premier League history.

The Brazilian now has six league assists to his name since moving to England in 2017.

He overtakes Paul Robinson, who picked up five assists across his top-flight career with Leeds United, Tottenham Hotspur, Blackburn Rovers and Burnley.

Our man is up to three in this campaign alone, which also sets a new record - with several goalkeepers previously notching two in the same term.

As well as his three assists this term, he also supplied his team-mates once each in 2018/19, 2020/21 and 2022/23.

A revolutionary goalkeeper, Ederson's ability with the ball at his feet has been a crucial part of our historic success under Pep Guardiola.

Remarkably composed in the face of high pressure from opponents, he often opts for short, incisive passes to the backline.

However, he's equally capable of picking out a player further up the pitch or - as in the case with Marmoush's goal here - sending a striker in behind.

He's done so for the likes of Sergio Aguero, Ilkay Gundogan and Erling Haaland in the past, but Marmoush was the beneficiary of our No.31's vision this time around.

That's not to take away from his reliability when it comes to shot stopping and his bravery in sweeping up behind the line.

With six Premier League titles and three Golden Gloves, this latest record cements his status as one of the division's greatest ever goalkeepers.
