Elson and Gibson sign for Middlesbrough Women | OneFootball

Elson joined the Magpies in summer 2019 from Chester-le-Street Town Ladies and made her debut against her former side in the September of that year.

The 24-year-old proved a key figure in the 2022/23 season, making 25 appearances and scoring 14 goals in a promotion-winning campaign to help the Magpies into the third tier.

Across her five-and-a-half seasons with the club, Elson made 91 appearances in all competitions, scoring 43 goals.

On Elson's departure, head coach Becky Langley said: "Kacie has cemented herself into Newcastle United Women history and will always have a place in the club's heart.

"Her efforts across her time with us have been fantastic. Kacie is a great girl and a player who I have thoroughly enjoyed working with across the past six years.

"It is hard to see her go because she has contributed so much, especially some crucial goals on our journey to the Championship - we simply wouldn't be in this position without her sacrifices and contribution. We all wish her well for her future."

Georgia Gibson also makes the move to Teesside, with the 26-year-old signing a loan deal until the end of the current campaign.

Gibson joined the Magpies in the summer of 2020 and has made 102 appearances since her debut that year, scoring 59 goals in all competitions.

In her four-and-a-half seasons with the club, Gibson has helped secure back-to-back promotions and scored memorable efforts at St. James' Park against Alnwick Town Ladies, Barnsley Women, Bradford City Women and Portsmouth Women.

On Gibson's loan departure, Becky Langley said: "Georgia is one of the heartbeats of Newcastle United Women. She has brought so much to the team both on and off the pitch, showing great leadership alongside being a strong performer.

"Georgia has given a lot to the club she loves and I admire everything she has done in her time here. I, along with everyone at the club, would like to wish her every success in her loan spell at Middlesbrough for the rest of the season."
