Louis Thomas Buffon, the son of Juventus and Azzurri legend Gianluigi, is set to gain his first taste of international football with the Czechia U18 side despite being born and bred in Italy. Here is everything you need to know about the promising teenager.

Who is Louis Buffon?

Louis Buffon was born in Turin in 2007 while Gianluigi was playing for Juventus. His middle name is a tribute to former Cameroon and Espanyol goalkeeper Thomas N’Kono. He has a brother, David Lee Buffon, who is named after Van Halen’s David Lee Roth and a half-sister born in 2020.

Their mother, Alena Seredova, a former Miss World competitor, was born and raised in Czechia, which is why Louis is eligible to represent two international sides.

The fact that Louis Buffon has opted to represent Czechia at U18 level does not rule out the possibility of him turning out for Italy in the future, either at youth level or for the senior side.

The 17-year-old is still inexperienced at club level. He is on the books of Serie B promotion hopefuls Pisa, but is currently based with the Primavera side rather than the first team. He has not yet made his professional debut at senior level.

He was, however, recently called up to the senior squad for the first time on Sunday for the 1-1 Serie B draw with Cesena by his father’s former Italy and Juventus teammate Pippo Inzaghi. Buffon Jr. remained an unused substitute.

He joined Pisa in 2023, having previously played for the CBS Scuola Calcio, an elite academy programme in Turin, which is one of a selection of feeder clubs for the Juventus youth teams.

Louis Buffon typically operates as a left-winger, but is also capable of covering in a number of positions across the forward line, including at centre-forward.
