Liverpool's San Siro triumph saw Szoboszlai play his 50th game for Liverpool since his arrival from RB Leipzig last summer.

Szoboszlai's performance caught the eye of former Liverpool goalkeeper and fellow Hungarian Adam Bogdan who heaped praise on his former national team teammate when speaking to Sportal.

"I don't think this goal was important to him because of the criticism, but to prove to himself [he can score goals].

"He now plays much higher, closer to the opponent's goal, under Slot's control, thus he plays a key role in the attacks because he has to score in addition to creating chances.

"His goal yesterday was a perfect example of this, as he sent Cody Gakpo into open space into the empty area and then he later received the ball back when he arrived in front of the goal at a good pace," Bogdan said.

The former goalkeeper went on to make a bold but confident prediction on Szoboszlai after seeing him take up a slightly different role under Arne Slot than the one he occupied under the legendary Jurgen Klopp.

Bogdan has backed the midfielder to improve his output in both goals and assists.

"I think he will score more than 10 goals and get 10 assists this season," Bogdan predicted.

If Szoboszlai is able to achieve these numbers, he would join a very admirable club in which Mohamed Salah found himself in last season.

An illustrious group

It goes without saying that reaching double figures for both goals and assists in a single Premier League campaign is seriously impressive, and that's reinforced by a small number of players being able to reach these numbers last season.

Only five players managed to finish the season in this group, one being Szoboszlai's Liverpool teammate Salah, whose numbers once again demonstrated why he remains the Reds' talisman.

The Egyptian netted 18 times whilst registering 10 assists in Jurgen Klopp's final season on the Anfield throne.

The other four players joining the 32-year-old were Cole Palmer, Anthony Gordon, Ollie Watkins and Son Heung-Min.

Could Szoboszlai's role change help him join this group?

Despite still being part of a three-man midfield, as he was under Klopp, Szoboszlai is utilised by Slot as a more advanced midfielder with a double pivot behind him, rather than being an 8 in a flat midfield.

This alteration has provided the Hungarian with the license to join Liverpool's attack in offensive situations to crash the box and contribute with more goals and assists.

This freedom has been met with Slot's challenge for the midfielder to improve his output which he swiftly responded in style with a goal at the San Siro on Tuesday.

His goal was a clear example of the involvement he can have with this freedom as he initially fed the ball to Cody Gakpo before latching onto the winger's cross to secure all three points.
