Manchester United continue to monitor Sporting CP winger Trincao, but it remains a complicated task amidst the strong competition for the player’s services.

Following Ruben Amorim’s mid-season move from Lisbon to Manchester, the Red Devils have been heavily linked with a host of Sporting CP stars who flourished under the manager’s tutelage, and chief among them is Viktor Gyokeres, the 27-year-old Swedish bomber who is apparently wanted by half of Europe.

Moreover, Man Utd were reportedly keen to lure 17-year-old winger Geovany Quenda, but were dealt a blow as the teenager ended up agreeing a transfer to Chelsea in the summer of 2026.

Nevertheless, sources close to Stretty News revealed that the Old Trafford outfit is still pursuing another Sporting CP star in the shape of Trincao.

The 25-year-old rose to stardom during his early years at Braga which earned him a transfer to Barcelona in the summer of 2020. However, he struggled to carve himself space in Ronald Koeman’s star-studded squad, so he was sent on loan to Wolves in the following summer. Sadly for the winger, his time at the Molineux proved largely disappointing, only contributing with a single goal and two assists.

Nevertheless, Trincao’s homecoming through the gates of Sporting paid dividends, as he managed to put his career back in order. This season, he has already contributed with eight goals and 12 assists in the Portuguese top flight.

Hence, a host of top European clubs are happy to give the player another chance on the big stage, including Man Utd. Our sources can confirm that the Red Devils could face local competition form Newcastle United, Aston Villa and Arsenal.

However, the biggest threat could be represented by Barcelona who boast a buy-back option worth €25 million that they could decide to exercise. The Blaugrana also have a 50% sell-on fee.

Furthermore, Sporting are determined to convince Trincao to extend his contract which will expire in the summer of 2026, something that would solidify their leverage and allow them to generate a bigger transfer fee from his potential summer sale.

Hence, landing the Portugal international won’t be a simple task for the Red Devils, but it remains to be seen if Amorim’s connection can play a decisive factor.
