Fabrizio Romano delights Man Utd fans with smashing update on ‘brilliant’ star | OneFootball

Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano provided a positive update on injured Manchester United star Amad Diallo.

The young Ivorian cemented himself as an absolute protagonist for the Red Devils since the arrival of Ruben Amorim.

The Portuguese manager entrusted the 22-year-old with a key role after being overlooked by Erik ten Tag in favour of Antony.

Amorim has certainly been rewarded for his choice, with Amad proving decisive on several occasions, most famously the Manchester Derby when he dramatically turned the result upside-down in the final minutes.

The dynamic star thus earned praise from his teammates, including his captain Bruno Fernandes who described him as ‘unstoppable’, and pundits like Rio Ferdinand who hailed his ‘brilliant’ displays.

But sadly for the former Sunderland and Rangers star, he has been out of action with an ankle injury since mid-February. It has also been suggested that this issue could rule Diallo out for the remainder of the campaign.

Nevertheless, more encouraging reports emerged in recent days, revealing hope of an earlier return to action.

Romano has now confirmed this possibility, revealing that the Atalanta youth product could indeed return to action before the end of the campaign as he’s been ahead of schedule in his recovery path, although the club isn’t willing to take any risks on this particular front.

“Amad Diallo, progressing well in his recovery after injury and currently understood to be ahead of schedule,” posted the transfer market insider on his X account.

“Manchester United staff cautious as they won’t take any risks, but there’s a real chance for Amad to be back on pitch before the end of the season, around May.”

Amad’s potential return in the last stretch of the campaign would be a major boost for Amorim’s side, especially if they were to go all the way in the Europa League.

While this tournament might be a secondary competition, it represents the club’s only hope of reaching next season’s edition of the Champions League.
