Liverpool are moving swiftly in their pursuit of attacking reinforcements this summer, and Alexander Isak is firmly on their radar. Reports confirm that the Reds have already made contact with representatives close to the Newcastle striker.
The 25-year-old has been in electric form, scoring 19 goals in just 25 Premier League appearances. His latest reminder of quality came in Sunday’s Carabao Cup final, where he coolly slotted home Newcastle’s second goal. With performances like that, it’s no surprise top clubs are circling.
David Ornstein has verified that Isak is indeed a target for Liverpool, but securing his signature will not come cheap. Newcastle are expected to demand a fee well above £100 million—a sum that would smash Liverpool’s current record £85 million outlay for Darwin Núñez.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has shed light on Liverpool’s interest, stating:
“Liverpool have already made contact with people close to Alexander Isak.”
He also warned that Liverpool will not be alone in the race:
“Arsenal will be there, they want Isak and both clubs are interested. For Arsenal, he is the absolute top target.”
While Arsenal have positioned Isak as their priority signing, Liverpool view him as one of several options to bolster their frontline. Mikel Arteta’s side is expected to challenge the Reds in what could become one of the summer’s biggest transfer battles.
Despite Newcastle’s public insistence that they want to keep Isak, Romano hinted that every club has its price:
“We will see what Newcastle want to do, they keep insisting on their position… but we know when there is important money on the table, sometimes it’s about the Financial Fair Play and all of these things.”
Newcastle originally paid £63 million to sign Isak from Real Sociedad in 2022, and any sale would generate a significant profit. With 57 goals in 99 appearances for the Magpies, he has cemented his status as one of the Premier League’s most lethal forwards.
Liverpool’s interest is real, but whether they are willing to meet Newcastle’s valuation remains to be seen. One thing is certain—Isak’s future will be one of the biggest talking points of the summer transfer window.
