New Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim is already making his mark at the club ahead of his managerial debut against Ipswich Town on Sunday.

After beginning his role as Man United manager on Monday, it was confirmed that Amorim had secured passage for five new coaches to join him at Carrington.

What’s more, he took the controversial decision to cut Ruud van Nistelrooy loose after what was a successful tenure as interim coach.

Still, it’s not only the backroom staff where Amorim’s focus has lay over the past few days. He also appears to have a vision of the type of players at the club that he believes will be key to United’s future success.

This morning, Fabrizio Romano revealed which players Amorim seems set to rely upon for success.

“Kobbie Mainoo is a crucial player for Manchester United owners, for Manchester United directors, and for Manchester United staff,” Romano declared. “Ruben Amorim loves these kind of players. So, Kobbie Mainoo, Leny Yoro… these sort of players are exactly the direction he wants to take for Manchester United’s future.”

Romano added that while United have not yet handed Mainoo a new contract, the club are expected to do so in the near future.

“So the new contract of Kobbie Mainoo is going to be an important topic in the next weeks, in the next months. Man United are still working on it. We are not yet at the final stages, but the conversation remains ongoing; the conversation remains positive on both the player and club side and so the contract of Kobbie Mainoo, as well as Amad Diallo and others, is going to be one of the topics for Manchester United after the international break.

Mainoo has proven to be one of United’s brightest emerging talents in recent times, being nominated for the Globe Soccer Emerging Player 2024 award due to his contributions at Old Trafford.

A regular in United’s starting 11 prior to his injury setback, Mainoo has also made a massive impact on the international stage, representing England at Euro 2024.

Unfortunately, Yoro has been unable to feature this season after undergoing foot surgery due to being injured during the pre-season tour of the US.

Still, Amorim has taken note of Yoro’s potential, with the Portuguese manager reportedly viewing Yoro as a “generational talent.”

While it remains to be seen how well Amorim will adjust to life at Old Trafford, it’s encouraging to see United’s new manager already making strategic decisions as he plans the club’s future.
