Fear of Randal Kolo Muani 2.0 sees PSG drop Viktor Gyökeres pursuit | OneFootball

Last night, Paris Saint-Germain’s 2-1 loss to Atlético de Madrid highlighted a growing concern for the capital club. PSG shot 22 times against their visitors but could not find a way to convert those chances, and the club have looked goal-shy in the Champions League (three goals in four games).

There are some questions over whether it was a mistake to not target a striker over the summer, especially when the first-choice, Gonçalo Ramos (23), was ruled out with a lengthy injury following the first game of the season, and Luis Enrique looks to have little faith in Randal Kolo Muani (25) as the back-up option.

The choice to play Marco Asensio (28) or Lee Kang-in (23) as a false nine while the manager waits for Ramos’ return looks as if it can work in Ligue 1 but is not quite incisive enough to make the difference in the Champions League. Luis Enrique was spiky around his choices last night stating, “Bring me the striker if you have him! Where do I get this striker from?”

Is Viktor Gyökeres that striker?

Viktor Gyökeres (26) could be that striker. The Swedish international is on fire at the moment and on Tuesday scored a hat-trick against Manchester City. However, according to Le Parisien, he is not a player that PSG are not planning on rushing to recruit.

The French outlet writes that they are put off by an expected fee of between €75 to €100 million. This is thought to be because the club are concerned about spending a similar amount as they did on Kolo Muani, as they believe that the Frenchman’s price tag of €90 million has worked to create too much pressure on him and has led to his poor performances.
