A Chelsea insider has cleared up the details around the fresh injury for attacker Cole Palmer that saw him miss out at the weekend.

The news comes after Chelsea were defeated by Arsenal in the Premier League yesterday, losing to a first half headed goal by Mikel Merino.

EXCLUSIVE! Chelsea in for THIRD Sporting player this summer after two agreements made!

The game was obviously not without its drama and Chelsea fans saw what they expect to see every time Robert Sanchez starts, and that is him making a silly mistake and giving away a goal. This time he got lucky, but Maresca continued to back his goalkeeper at the full time whistle once again.

Meanwhile, Arsenal defender Jurrien Timber was seen mocking Maresca on the side lines in an interaction that has annoyed Blues fans even more.

All in all it wasn’t a good performance from Chelsea and it lacked intensity, desire, energy, and any kind of real belief that they could get something from the game.

Palmer obviously missed this game due to an injury he is now nursing, and our own writer Simon Phillips has the inside details on that one on his own Substack site today.

Speaking on Palmer’s injury today, Phillips said:

‘Enzo Maresca has confirmed that Palmer will have a scan today [Monday] to see the extent of the damage, but it is highly likely now that he misses the international break with England at the very least. We now have to wait on the results of this scan.

‘The issue as we understand from top SPTC sources is that Palmer has muscle fatigue in his hamstring and it has been feeling tight.

‘It was reported yesterday that Palmer picked up the injury in training on Saturday and not in the game against Copenhagen where he was bought on at half time as The Blues struggled against their opposition.

‘This is incorrect. SPTC Sources have confirmed that Palmer first felt the pain when he came on against Copenhagen. However, he only felt it in the first couple of minutes of coming on and didn’t feel it again throughout the game so continued to play. After the game he felt it become a bit tight again.

‘Palmer then missed the gym session the day after and then felt the same pain in training on Saturday. The decision was then made to pull him from the squad and arrange a scan.’
