Savinho has admitted it was a “dream come true” to make the move to the Etihad Stadium from ESTAC Troyes during the last summer transfer window.

The Brazilian international winger was Manchester City’s only big-money signing of the 2024 summer transfer window, after it is believed Pep Guardiola shut down the idea of a major squad rebuild plotted by club officials.

The 54-year-old felt as though he could put faith once more into his all-conquering squad that won a staggering fourth consecutive Premier League title, adding just Savinho and Ilkay Gundogan to his roster.

Ultimately, such a move did not prove successful and Manchester City have found themselves well off the pace this time around, working on four arrivals during the January market at a spend north of £170 million, with up to five more new signings expected this summer.

Savinho has proven to be a strong piece of business completed within the City Football Group, starring on the right-hand side for Manchester City on numerous occasions this campaign and offering a clear look at the potential player the club have for the long-term future.

Speaking to Manchester City’s official club website, Savinho has now opened up on the feeling of joining Pep Guardiola’s side in a big-money move from ESTAC Troyes after an excellent loan spell with Girona in La Liga.

“Becoming a Manchester City player is an incredible joy. It was a dream come true for me and my family. I was really happy,” the Brazilian said.

“It represents everything I’ve been through, all the struggles. Only my family and I know what we went through. Getting to a big club like Manchester City was a dream,” he continued.

“Every player dreams of reaching a big club. And I made it!”

Manchester City are unlikely to seek additional recruits in the wide positions this summer as a direct result of the faith being put into the likes of Jeremy Doku, Oscar Bobb, Phil Foden, Jack Grealish, Bernardo Silva, and Savinho.

With that being said, Etihad Stadium officials are often flexible when it comes to their stances on players and will not stand in the way of star should they request a move away from the club, providing the financial offer brought to the table is suitable.

Of the aforementioned names, Bernardo Silva and Jack Grealish are expected to be the most vulnerable to sales this summer, with the Portuguese international in particular having been open to a new challenge for several seasons.
