Inter signed Benjamin Pavard in a blockbuster €30 million deal from Bayern Munich in the summer of 2023.

One of Europe’s most highly rated defenders won the Scudetto in his first season in Serie A.

Less than two years into his Inter experience, Pavard looks destined to add to his trophy cabinet.

However, defending the league title won’t be simple, with Napoli bidding to dethrone the Nerazzurri.

“If football were easy, we’d know it; but you can’t always win with an 18-point advantage,” Pavard compared this season to last.

“We play many matches back-to-back, whereas Napoli is strong and plays once a week.

“Still, we’ve had a lot of bad results, but if we win the game in hand, we’ll be level. We feel good and will prove it once again.

“Honestly, we prepare for every game the same way, whether it’s against Lecce or in a final.

“We don’t underestimate our opponents. We’re used to this type of match.

“There’s no pressure – we know what to do, and we’ll show it. If we’re solid in defense, we’ll win.”

Benjamin Pavard Explains Why He Joined Inter Milan Before Monaco Clash

“I came to Inter to win as much as possible,” he claimed. “They share my mentality; for years, Inter has been performing at every level.

“The Champions League is a key objective, and we’re preparing well for every match.

“We’re calm, with players who have been using the same systems for years.

“Even though I’ve only been here for a year, I’ve adapted to these mechanisms.

“Monaco is a strong opponent, but we’re prepared and will give everything to win tomorrow.”

Asked whether he considers Inter among Champions League favorites, Pavard replied: “It’s too early to say.

“Tomorrow, we need to win to be among the top eight.

“A club like Inter is always expected to compete for the title every season, but we’re not thinking about that now.

“No need to add extra pressure.”

Comparisons To Past Experiences & His Role Under Simone Inzaghi

“Compared to France and Germany, there’s a lot more tactical work here,” Pavard admitted.

“We know how to press and manage transitions. It’s not that it surprised me, but it’s clear they emphasize tactical preparation. I like it.”

Meanwhile, he addressed his more conservative role in Simone Inzaghi’s system.

“It’s not from the coach that I don’t push forward – he has fantastic ideas and gives us a lot of freedom.

“Bastoni has been part of the system for years and does it perfectly. I’m not restricted.

‘But I focus more on defense, trying not to lose the ball and leave us exposed.

“I try to push at the right time, but it’s something I can improve.”

Despite failing to score this season, Pavard remains calm.

“I was close to scoring before getting injured against Leipzig,” he added.

“My primary objective is to defend well. I’d prefer a clean sheet, but if a goal comes, that’s great. Maybe it’ll happen tomorrow.”

High-Performing Clubmates

Denzel Dumfries has been in the form of his life this season.

“He has extraordinary qualities -he’s fast, physical, and great in the air,” Pavard praised his teammate.

“He’s one of the best full-backs. I noticed it even before I came to Inter. I’m happy for him, and I’m sure he’ll keep it up.”

Furthermore, Yann Bisseck has become a crucial asset for the Nerazzurri.

“Yann has great potential,” Pavard insisted.

“He speaks French, so we talk often. I’m happy with his progress; he gives his all and shows his qualities.

“He can play in various roles, and there’s healthy competition. Let’s hope we keep this up.”
