Fresh Man United injury concern ahead of Ruben Amorim debut | OneFootball

Man United have been dealt a fresh injury worry ahead of Ruben Amorim’s first game in charge as manager.

The Portuguese tactician arrived in Manchester this week to take up his position as Erik ten Hag’s replacement in the Old Trafford dugout.

The 39-year-old is still waiting on a work permit so he can start working with the squad on the training pitch, although it’s expected it will be approved soon.

That means Amorim will be on the touchline for the club’s next Premier League fixture, which sees them travel to Portman Road to face Ipswich Town on Sunday, 24 November.

Fresh Man United injury concern

Amorim could be without one of his key players for that game, however, after it emerged that Lisandro Martinez has sustained an injury.

The Man United centre-back travelled to South America for international duty, but endured a bit of a nightmare en route to his native Argentina.

Martinez and compatriots Emiliano Martinez, Christian Romero, Enzo Fernandez and Facundo Buonanotte were stuck at an airport in Brazil for several hours after encountering an issue, according to Footboom.

As it turns out, the 26-year-old went to all that trouble for nothing, as he will miss the national team’s games against Paraguay and Peru due to a knock, according to reporter Gaston Edul.

Martinez will return to Manchester and be assessed by the club’s medical staff to determine the extent of his injury.

The 2022 World Cup winner is also walking a suspension tightrope at the moment as he’s on four yellow cards for the season. If he receives another booking before Man United’s 19th Premier League game, then he will be suspended for one match.
