At around 16:13pm on Sunday afternoon, Liverpool fans were finally given the gift they had been waiting all season to receive - a guard of honour from their title 'challengers' Arsenal.

The Gunners had been battling hard all season long, as they had done in the two seasons prior as well, hoping to win the Premier League title, although Aren Slot helped the Reds to leapfrog them.

Once the title was officially wrapped up, everyone went searching through their calendars to work out which teams would likely be giving to players a guard of honour, and Arsenal were one of them.

The contest between the two sides ended in a 2-2 draw, despite Liverpool leading 2-0 at half-time thanks to a two-minute burst in front of goal. But while the visitors might have felt somewhat pleased with their efforts to leave Merseyside with a point, most of the Reds' fans were still lapping up the guard of honour from earlier on, and one of the club's senior executives joined in with the trolling.

FSG give their appreciation to Arsenal's gesture

John Henry's wife Linda Pizzuti is often active on social media, commenting on the club's posts and interacting with the fans and she made sure to get in on the act on Sunday as well.

Taking to Instagram, she posted a story with the club's photo of the guard of honour and she wrote 'Love the Guard of Honour, thank you, Arsenal'.

Generally speaking, this might just have been about respecting the gesture, but given how embarrassing it must have been for the Arsenal players, this post is really adding salt into the wound.

We are already aware that Liverpool will look to be busy in the summer transfer window, and so Linda and her husband John will hopefully be sanctioning a lot of spending power to Arne Slot to yield if the club is wanting to try and retain their crown next season.

Although a lot of hard work will need to be done before we can even begin to contemplate muttering the words, 'Liverpool Premier League Champions 2025/26'. We haven't even had this year's trophy lift yet.

But it certainly would be nice if we could make this Pizzuti post into a tradition if a wave of further success comes on the back of this win. If the summer goes well, then who knows.

Arsenal, on the other hand, certainly won't have been pleased about it and will be attempting to use the frustration of their three second place finishes to boost a winning campaign - although their most recent step backwards will mean they'll have catch up at least nine points to reach the Reds.
