Nat Seaton

‘A poor away performance full of mistakes and not many positives to take forward, other than a good start to the second half to get us back in the game.

The Schar miss aside, you can’t say we troubled them enough.

We look vulnerable at the back and two mistakes resulted in two goals but there were others.

Here’s hoping on Tuesday we can put this behind us and put in a performance to get us through to the next round of the cup.’

Billy Miller:

‘If we kept playing as we had been, a result like this was always coming.

I was pretty happy with the starting line-up but that first half was abysmal.

A much better second half but few players are at capacity currently.

Vital we progress in the cup or else moods will be really low when the champions come to town.’

GToon:

‘So our results finally caught up with our performances.

That was pretty poor from some of our more experienced players.

Bruno and Joe7 were bang average.

Isak did very little and Schar missed a sitter to make it 2-2.

However, we are always going to struggle with that clown in goal. I’m sick of ppl defending him. He cost us today big time. We will win nothing with him in goal. Quite what he was trying to do with the second goal is beyond me. A carbon copy of his stupid push out v Spurs. Get rid Eddie before it’s too late.

To add to todays excitement I drove 2 hours for my daughter’s game which was cancelled, then another hour to do a 10k which was cancelled and then sit watching us and the cricket.

And that lot down the road won too.

I’ve had better days.’

Jamie Smith:

‘Well this has been coming.

The first half was unacceptable.

We seem to be stuck in a situation where everyone wants three touches and ten seconds on the ball and this ponderous approach gets punished time and time again.

Second half was an improvement with Barnes’ instant goal giving hope that fizzled out.

Real concern over an injured/struggling looking Isak and very negative body language from Gordon.

It’s hard now not to think this is the tone for the season.

Hopefully form will kick in at some point but this kind of performance seems to be a regular default these days and it feels like transforming this season into some kind of success is the last chance for this incarnation of NUFC, surely various changes and offskis if we have another 8 months like this.’

Bazoox:

‘We have more keepers than London Zoo but even our so-called Number 1 is suspect and vulnerable.

I’m gradually losing faith in the Pope.

It’s not only his fault though.

If Gordon is thinking about the possibility of being a scouse red after playing well for us for one season, we should forget about offering him a lucrative new contract.

Bruno Guimaraes has been taking too long on the ball all season. Both of our Brazilians could do with a rocket up their jacksies.

There are too many players just picking up their wages at the minute and I believe Eddie is becoming frustrated in general.

Back to earth with a bang, but it’s not as if we had ever risen to any great levels form-wise. We have been lucky with our results.

Been informed today that I’ve got a ticket for the Man City game. It will be my first match at St James’ since 2008.

We need to drastically improve to have any chance of giving Pep’s team a decent game.’

Tony Mallabar:

‘Well I did say last week that we got out of jail against Wolves and as sure as night turns into day, up pops the shambolic performance our season has promised all season.

Fulham should have had the game out of sight Well before ht.

Bruno and Gordon displaying their full repetoire of diving and generally hoying themselves to the floor when better opportunities looked possible.

Little Joe and big Joe looked well off the pace and Pope making the kind of error an eight year old schoolboy would be ashamed of.

Howe has taken us as far as he can.

And if my rant sounds like an entitled Tommy two games fan, then so be it.

I left the house at 5.30am this morning and expected home around 11.30pm.

I get it players lose form and not everything goes your way. But howay.’

Matt Busby said to Joe Harvey:

‘Well, the unbeaten run comes to a shuddering halt and our performance wasn’t any more convincing.

In some respects, it was far, far worse.

The optimist in me thinks, cancel out those huge mistakes from Pope and Bruno and we’ve drawn 1-1.

In fact, if Schar squares the ball to Isak, we’ve won 2-1.

But that’s clutching at straws big style.

Yet again, we fall behind.

This time we go two down and it proves insurmountable.

Yet again, there were too many substandard performances.

This time, we got what we deserved.’
