Barcelona midfielder Gavi has shared his thoughts ahead of the crucial away fixture against Atletico Madrid.
The young talent is full of confidence in his team’s current form and believes they are in an excellent position to keep pushing forward this season.
He emphasised that having self-belief is one of the most important factors in football and that the squad is performing at a very high level.
“We’re in very good shape right now, we’re very confident, and that’s the most important thing in football. I have a lot of confidence in the team and I hope we win as many wins as possible this season,” he began saying.

For the midfielder, securing a win against Atletico Madrid would be a significant achievement, although he acknowledges that it will not be the decisive factor in determining the league champions.
The season is still long, and many challenges lie ahead. However, he recognises that a defeat for Atletico at home, especially after their recent disappointment against Real Madrid in the Champions League, could be a major setback for them.
“Winning at the Metropolitano will be important, but it doesn’t mean the title is secured, because the season is still long.
“For them, it would be a tough defeat after their last match against Real Madrid in the Champions League, but they are a strong team.”

When asked about his teammate Pedri, Gavi did not hesitate to highlight his qualities. He strongly believes that Pedri is deserving of football’s highest individual honour, the Ballon d’Or.
While the future remains unpredictable in football, he is certain that Pedri’s contributions to the team are invaluable.
“For me, he deserves to win the Ballon d’Or. I don’t know if he’ll win it, because football changes very quickly, but what Pedri offers us is very important,” he noted.

Discussing Barcelona’s current manager, Gavi praised Hansi Flick for the positive impact he has had on the squad. The German coach has been a revelation in the dressing room, exceeding expectations with his approach and leadership.
The team is thriving under his guidance, and Gavi hopes that Flick remains at the club for many years to come, as his presence has been crucial in shaping Barcelona’s performances.
“As a coach, he’s top-notch. He’s surprised everyone in the locker room in a very positive way. We’re very happy with him and hope he stays at Barcelona for a long time.”
The midfielder also took a moment to express his admiration for Atletico Madrid’s coach, Diego Simeone. He respects Simeone for his strong personality and the way he motivates his players.
According to Gavi, Simeone’s influence on his squad is undeniable, making Atletico a highly competitive side year after year. “I like Simeone for his personality and the way he inspires the players.”

Finally, he spoke about new arrival Wojciech Szczesny, who seems to have integrated seamlessly into the Barcelona squad.
Gavi described the Polish goalkeeper as a fantastic individual who has impressed everyone in the dressing room.
Szczesny has not only shown his quality on the pitch but has also been a great teammate, always offering support and maintaining a positive attitude.
“Szczesny? He’s a great guy. He’s surprised everyone in the dressing room in a positive way. He’s a very nice person and a good teammate, and he helps everyone,” he concluded.
