Manchester United are set to pay respects to club legend Denis Law after he passed away at the age of 84 after suffering from dementia.

With his funeral scheduled to take place tomorrow, several former players, managers, and staff are expected to attend, including iconic manager Sir Alex Ferguson.

However, the Glazer family seem to be set to miss the funeral if reports are to be believed.

“The funeral of Law, who died in January aged 84 following a long battle with dementia, will take place at Manchester Cathedral on Tuesday,” the Daily Star stated this afternoon.

“But no one from the Glazers family will be there to pay their respects to one of the club’s most iconic players,” the report claimed.

“Sir Alex Ferguson will attend the funeral, but it’s understood United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe will not be there – though this has not been confirmed by the club.”

As acknowledged in the article, the Glazers missed the funeral of Sir Bobby Charlton in November 2023. “Back then, the Glazers decided the risk of getting abuse from supporters could detract from the occasion,” the tabloid claimed.

“The Americans didn’t want to make unwanted headlines – and stayed away to allow all the focus to be on Charlton.”

The article went on to state that thousands of fans are expected to line the streets of Manchester ahead of the funeral to pay their final respects to the United legend, who also happens to be the only Scottish player to ever win the Ballon d’Or.

A “Book of Condolence” is also expected to be delivered to Old Trafford, where fans will be able to write personal messages to Law.

While the Glazers’ reason for missing this monumental moment for the club has not been divulged, fans may nonetheless jump to the worst conclusion given their controversial reign.

Just under two weeks ago, The Peoples Person relayed that Joel Glazer remains actively involved in guiding United’s transfer strategy.

Given fans’ dissatisfaction over the club’s quiet transfer window, the Glazers continue to be scrutinised by frustrated fans. It appears as if no matter what they do, the Glazers will be on the receiving end of the supporters’ ire.

Either way, it seems best for the Glazers to miss Law’s funeral, particularly so that focus is placed on bidding farewell to a cherished United legend.
