Hansi Flick makes decision on Wojciech Szczęsny’s Barcelona future | OneFootball

Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick has come to a decision on the future of goalkeeper Wojciech Szczęsny with the club.

That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, who have on Friday provided an insight into the latest developments behind the scenes in Catalunya’s capital.

Szczęsny, for his part, has of course spent the last couple of months establishing himself as the new no.1 in Barcelona’s squad.

Brought in following the long-term injury suffered by Marc-André ter Stegen, the Pole has done a stellar job of displacing Iñaki Peña as Hansi Flick’s first-choice option between the posts.

So much so that Barca’s headmaster has given his blessing to Szczęsny staying put beyond the expiration of his current contract terms in the summer.

As per a report from MD:

‘Hansi Flick is fully satisfied with the Polish goalkeeper’s performance and, as Mundo Deportivo has learned, has already given the green light for a contract renewal for one more season beyond June 30, 2025.’

With Deco having also given his blessing to as much, all that now remains is for Szczęsny himself to commit to the renewal.
