Hansi Flick wants transfer-linked Barcelona star to stay ‘for many years’ | OneFootball

Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick is hopeful of defender Eric García staying put with the club for the long-term.

That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, who have on Friday provided an insight into the latest developments behind the scenes in Catalunya’s capital.

Eric’s name of course featured prominently in the Spanish media headlines throughout much of the January window.

This came after the likes of Girona and Como expressed a keen interest in luring the Spanish international away from Barcelona.

In the end, Eric was convinced to stay put for the remainder of the campaign, before reassessing his future in the summer.

As much came at the direct request of manager Hansi Flick.

And Flick’s plans for the former Manchester City man, it would appear, stretch far beyond just the remaining months of the 2024/25 season.

As per a report from the aforementioned MD:

‘The player has a good reputation, but the German coach wants to give him reasons to feel important and continue at Barça for many years.’
