Newcastle United lost to Fulham today.
Jacob Murphy giving United a first half lead, only for the visitors to hit back with two goals in the second half.
Live everybody else, gutted that Newcastle United didn’t win, then losing makes it even worse
However, some of the fans around me today inside St James’ Park, I am baffled when they come out with stuff like this. These supporters saying “How can Newcastle lose to a team like Fulham?”
It was very much like the previous match, well apart from then these kind of people were saying “How can Newcastle lose to a team like Bournemouth?”
The way they go on, you would think NUFC were playing a pub team.
I think a lot of these fans struggle to grasp reality.
Newcastle United aren’t playing against the history of Bournemouth and Fulham, they have been playing against today’s reality.
It is really bizarre, because if say Newcastle had lost to Spurs and/or Man U recently, instead of Fulham and Bournemouth, then these NUFC fans would I’m sure find that more acceptable/understandable. Even though Man U and Spurs are poor and are in the bottom half, whilst Bournemouth and Fulham are in the top nine, having just looked at the table.
The ‘likes’ of Bournemouth and Fulham are overall, this season, better than the ‘likes’ of Spurs and Man U, over the course of these past six months.
Only Liverpool and Arsenal have lost fewer away matches than Fulham.
Since the opening weekend of the season, Fulham have only lost five of 23 Premier League matches only two of their last 12.
Away from home, since the opening weekend Fulham have lost only two PL matches, 3-2 at Man City and 3-2 at West Ham, that defeat to the Hammers when a couple of horrendous rare mistakes from Fulham defenders gifted goals.
Fulham had only conceded 13 goals in their 11 PL away matches before today, once again, only Liverpool and Arsenal doing better on that stat, conceding 12 each on their travels before this weekend.
As I said at the start, like everybody else I am gutted that Newcastle United lost (I am every time it happens), but to make out that NUFC were playing against some rubbish team is just nonsense.
