Barcelona’s involvement in the Spanish Super Cup is more than just a chance to claim a prestigious title—it also presents an opportunity for additional financial gains. If they manage to win the competition, the rewards could be even more substantial.

This week marks the beginning of the 2025 Spanish Super Cup, which is not only a competition for sporting glory but also a lucrative financial event.

The economic benefits for the participating clubs are determined by various factors, including past achievements and the popularity of the teams involved.

The distribution of funds is based on these criteria, with television rights and viewership playing a significant role in the calculation.

How is the money distributed?

According to AS, for the 2025 edition of the Super Cup, Saudi Arabia contributes €40 million to the Spanish Football Federation.

This money is then divided, with half allocated to the Federation itself and the other half distributed among the clubs taking part.

Real Madrid and Barcelona are set to receive approximately €6 million each, while Athletic Club will receive nearly €3 million. Mallorca, the fourth team in the competition, will receive about €1.5 million.

However, these amounts could change slightly, as seen in the previous edition when an agreement was reached for the larger clubs—Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid, and Barcelona—to donate €200,000 each to Osasuna, the fourth participant in that year’s competition.

More revenue possible

These figures are just for participating in the Super Cup. Additional financial incentives are available for the teams based on their performance.

The finalist will receive an extra €1 million, while the winner takes home an additional €2 million on top of the participation fee.

As a result, both Real Madrid and Barcelona stand to gain the most from this tournament, even if they do not reach the final.

However, if either Athletic Club or Mallorca were to win, their earnings could come close to matching what the top two clubs would receive.
