FC Barcelona once again showed their good form on the pitch last night as they got the better of SL Benfica to advance to the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League.
Lamine Yamal was one of the most important contributors for the Blaugrana team in this game, as he gave an assist before getting on the scoresheet himself with an amazing goal. With these contributions, he became the youngest player to have an assist and a goal in a single UCL match.
As Mundo Deportivo has reported, the Spaniard also talked to the press after the game. One of the subjects he addressed in this media talk was his incredible goal in the 26th minute:
“Yes, I think it’s my best goal. I would put it on the same level as the one I scored in the Euros against France.”
The winger also opened up honestly about the assist that led to Raphinha’s first goal:
“I tried to shoot… I have to thank Raphinha, who was alert and managed to pick up my shot and score. He’s having a great season, and I’m happy for him.”
The Barcelona star was clear that his team is aiming to win all the important titles:
“We are going for all the titles, we are competing, and we are proving it.”
Yamal revealed that he particularly enjoys matches like the one he played last night:
“I really enjoyed tonight. I love Champions League second-leg matches.”
With his incredible performance last night, the youngster now has 3 goals and 3 assists to his name in the UCL. Hopefully, he will be able to put in similar performances in the upcoming games as well and help his team get their hands on some of the big trophies after having gone the last season without any major titles.
