Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has detailed a big Chelsea transfer deal that shocked many in the last days and wants to clarify something.

Chelsea had a pretty quiet transfer window in the winter despite people like Romano and others telling us that it was going to be very busy! It was the opposite from busy in the end. Other than some dry loan deals done for players such as Ben Chilwell, who joined Crystal Palace on deadline day in the end, and Axel Disasi, who also went to another Premier League side in the shape of Champions League chasing Aston Villa, there really wasn’t much more than happened, especially in terms of new arrivals which the squad actually needed.

EXCLUSIVE! The SIXTEEN players Chelsea made attempts on trying to sign in January but failed!

They did sign one 19-year-old midfielder, and they also loaned out Joao Felix to AC Milan.

Many knew exactly why Chelsea signed Felix, it was obviously so they could sell Conor Gallagher to Atletico Madrid in an unofficial swap deal to help PSR. Enzo Maresca barely picked Felix, so he was obviously not fancied by the Chelsea boss.

But it was Felix who wanted to leave, allegedly…

Felix asked to go

Romano claims via GIVEMESPORT that it’s important to clarify that Joao Felix left Chelsea because he personally asked for a new opportunity.

He then goes on to say that Félix didn’t play as much as he wanted this season and Joao and his agent Jorge Mendes felt a move was needed to revive his career and find more game time from now to June.

Don’t doubt any of that, but maybe Chelsea shouldn’t sign players who the manager does not fancy just to appease PSR in the first place, no? Would that not be the sensible thing to do?
