Injured Barcelona midfielder can still return to action this season – Report | OneFootball

Although FC Barcelona were able to get a victory in the crucial game against Atletico Madrid right before the current international break, this win did not come without some costs.

The Blaugranes overturned a two-goal deficit in the last 20 minutes of the game and emerged as 2-4 winners in this game. However, after the game, the defender Inigo Martinez and the midfielder Marc Casado had to undergo tests because they both had felt discomfort.

The condition of the young midfielder seems to be particularly worrisome, as these tests indicated that he had suffered an injury to the ligament of the right knee, and he was expected to remain on the sidelines for around 2 and a half months.

However, Mundo Deportivo reports that more detailed tests have now been undertaken on Casado, and luckily, his injury is not too serious to require surgery. Thus, there is still hope for the midfielder to be able to play again this season.

With the need for surgery ruled out, the Barcelona player will pursue a conservative treatment plan to recover from this injury. Even if he spends the next two months on the sidelines for this recovery process, he will still be able to return for the final few games of the season.

There is a possibility that he will be able to return to action in the final league game of the season, which is set to be played against Athletic Club at San Mames on May 24 or 25.

Furthermore, he will have even greater chances of playing if the Blaugranes are able to reach the UEFA Champions League final which is scheduled to take place on May 31st.

Casado showed that he is always ready to help the team as he had suffered the blow quite early in the game against Atletico Madrid, but still went on to play a significant part of the match with pain. Thus, he will also be keen to help his team in the final stretch of the season, and hopefully, he will recover in time to be able to do so.
