Nerazzurri assistant coach Massimiliano Farris has “no comment” on mind games from Antonio Conte in the Serie A title race.

Farris gave his thoughts in a press conference after his team’s Serie A win over Hellas Verona, via FCInterNews. He also admitted that “absurdly” Inter have a better chance in the Champions League than in Serie A.

Napoli coach Antonio Conte has not been afraid of playing mind games with his former team Inter Milan in the Serie A title race this season.

The experienced tactician has tried to play the underdog with Napoli.

However, with the season nearing its conclusion, Conte has changed his tack a bit.

Napoli beat Lecce today. Like Inter, they won their match 1-0, needing a gritty performance to see out the three points.

After the match, Conte declared that “no one will remember us if we finish second.”

“The winners right history,” the Partenopei coach added. Meanwhile, the team in second “just read it.”

Inter assistant coach Massimiliano Farris was asked about Conte’s comments. But he simply said “no comment on statements from other coaches.”

“The title is no longer dependent on us,” he added. “So our job is just to win all our remaining matches, so that we don’t end up having any regrets.”

Meanwhile, Farris responded to the idea that this season would be a failed one for Inter, even if they win the Champions League.

“I don’t know if anyone has said that,” he said. “But I’d just laugh.”

“Look at the list of teams that have won the Champions League,” the Inter assistant coach went on.

“We want to crown our season with that dream.”

And then Farris admitted that “there’s more of a possibility of us winning the Champions League.”

Even though “it seems absurd, considering that we’ll be facing a sensational team.”

Farris also gave his thoughts on what Inter “learned” in the first leg of their Champions League semifinal tie against Barcelona.

“That they’re a strong team,” said the Nerazzurri assistant coach. “Even if we already knew that,” he added with a laugh.”

“The match was one that we’d studied. Then, we can discuss whether we could have done better to limit Yamal, or things like that.”

Farris said that Barcelona’s star man was “extraordinary.”

“But we could still have taken a few more metres away from him.”

“There’s reason for us to be proud of having made it this far,” the Inter assistant coach said. “And we want to make our fans happy, though we know it’ll be difficult.”

Then, Farris also gave a couple notable fitness updates ahead of the second leg.

“Unfortunately, Lautaro didn’t train,” said the coach. “So today, he’s more no than yes.”

“But we’ll try for the impossible.”

Meanwhile, “Pavard has tried to make himself available.”
