Serie A giants Inter Milan were on Sunday dealt an alarming blow on the personnel front, just days out from their upcoming showdown with Barcelona.

Simone Inzaghi’s troops were back in action this afternoon, welcoming AS Roma to San Siro for a league clash.

The Nerazzurri were ultimately condemned to the wrong side of a 1-0 result, making it a trio of successive defeats across all competitions.

As alluded to above, though, this marked far from the only source of concern for Inter on Sunday.

In addition, inside the opening quarter of an hour, the Milanese outfit saw a key member of their backline, in Benjamin Pavard, limp out of proceedings.

The German is understood to have picked up an ankle issue, potentially in the form of a sprain.

Pavard’s status to face Barcelona in the Champions League semi-final first-leg meeting between the sides on Wednesday has in turn been thrown up in the air.
