Inzaghi gives Thuram update ahead of Juventus clash: ‘Still feeling pain’ | OneFootball

Marcus Thuram is ‘still feeling some pain’, and his presence in the Derby d’Italia against Juventus will depend on whether he manages to train with the Inter team ahead of the Allianz Stadium clash.

The France international was subbed off during the first half of Inter’s home win against Fiorentina on Monday after receiving a knock on his left ankle.

While he was seen jogging out of the pitch to make room for Marko Arnautovic, he’s since been training separately from the rest of the team, and coach Simone Inzaghi revealed he’s not yet fully recovered from the problem and is far from being guaranteed a place in the starting XI.

Inzaghi: Thuram ‘more likely’ to be unavailable for Juventus vs Inter

“I have some doubts, I will need to assess things,” Inzaghi said in his pre-match press conference, as quoted by TMW.

“Dimarco returns, as he has recovered from the flu, and Dumfries returns from suspension. Today we’ll need to assess Thuram, as he is still feeling some pain. We’ll see if he trains with us today and how he feels.

“Well, we all know how important he [Thuram] is for us. Right now it’s more likely that he won’t be available.

“He is generous and made himself available after the knock he received in Florence. We’ll see if he will be with us, but the other forwards are doing well: Arnautovic trained with the team yesterday, Correa has completed a full week of training after a long time, and Taremi has gotten past a problem he’d been carrying for a while.”

Thuram is currently Inter’s leading goalscorer with 13 Serie A goals in 24 appearances, although he has failed to find the net in any of the last six games across all competitions.
