Two Italy players found the net during the most recent round of Premier League fixtures, while Fiorentina-owned Michael Kayode impressed with his performance off the bench during Brentford’s 1-1 draw with Arsenal on Saturday.
Here is how the cohort of Italy players got on in the Premier League this weekend.
Sandro Tonali picked up his third Premier League goal and his fifth across all competitions with a well-taken finish to round off an excellent team move during Newcastle United’s 4-1 win over Manchester United on Sunday.
The Italy international latched onto an Alexander Isak flick over the top, took it on the full volley, and found the bottom corner to open the scoring in a dominant performance from the Magpies at St James’ Park.

With that being his fifth goal of the season across all competitions, Tonali has now equalled his best ever goalscoring tally in a single season, matching the five goals he scored for Milan in 2021-22.

Another Italy player was on the scoresheet in the Premier League this weekend, as Caleb Okoli scored the second equalising goal in a 2-2 draw between Brighton and Leicester City on Saturday.
The uncapped centre-back, who was included in three of Luciano Spalletti’s Italy squads in the first half of the season, scored his first ever Premier League goal with a free header at the back post after a Bilal El-Khanouss free-kick.

Kayode, who is currently on loan at Brentford with an option to buy from Fiorentina, came on and impressed with his showing towards the end of Brentford’s 1-1 draw away against Champions League quarter-finalists Arsenal, in between the Gunners’ tie with Real Madrid, which they currently lead 3-0.
The 20-year-old provided the cross that led to Brentford’s equaliser, which earned him praise from a number of supporters online after full-time: “Changed the game when he came off the bench,” one user wrote on X, while another commented: “Locked down the left wing, Martinelli hasn’t had a sniff ever since.”
Jorginho also played the full 90 minutes for Arsenal during the 1-1 draw with Brentford.
It wasn’t the best of days for the Italy pair at Tottenham, as the North Londoners fell to a 4-2 defeat against Wolverhampton Wanderers. Guglielmo Vicario started in goal as usual, while Destiny Udogie was left amongst the substitutes.
Emerson Palmieri also remained an unused substitute as West Ham fell to a late 2-1 defeat against the soon-to-be Champions-elect Liverpool. Arne Slot once again left Federico Chiesa amongst the Liverpool subs.
