Journo spotted maligned Red receive a standing ovation vs Sociedad after ‘his best week of the season’

Manchester United will take to the East Midlands on Sunday in hopes of building on last night’s emphatic win over Real Sociedad.
The high-stakes tie culminated with United booking their spot in the Europa League quarter-finals, giving Ruben Amorim and his men – as well as the fans – a much-needed morale boost leading into the international break.
Such high spirits therefore cannot be dampened when the Red Devils lock horns with 19th-placed Leicester City this weekend. A comfortable win over the relegation favourites is crucial, and it could provide the likes of Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee the chance to bag their long-awaited Premier League goals against a floundering defence.
Amorim provided a brief team news update in his pre-Foxes conference, confirming that Mason Mount is in contention to make his long-awaited return to the matchday squad as a substitute. On Thursday, Manuel Ugarte was an unused substitute for the clash following his short spell on the sidelines, which has paved the way for Casemiro to be restored to the starting XI.

The Brazilian veteran was – to supporters’ surprise – a standout performer last night. His long-range passing and formidable showing in the middle of the park were reminiscent of Casemiro’s maiden campaign as a Red, and, if he continues like that, Amorim may just have to utilise more.
When being replaced in the closing stages by Toby Collyer, the five-time Champions League winner earned a warm response from those in attendance at the Theatre of Dreams.
“Standing ovation for Casemiro. Had probably his best week of the season. Pats the badge as he makes his way off,” penned journalist Samuel Luckhurst on X/Twitter.
Post-match, Amorim said of his player: “I am improving the way I should play Casemiro.
“I am not putting Casemiro pressing really high. Our team is well-connected and that is helping Casemiro. In a short space, he can understand where the ball is going. I understand better the characteristics of the players.”
