The father of Luka Jovic has admitted that staying at AC Milan ‘might not be a choice’ for his son, while confirming interest from Turkish clubs.
Something that seemed unthinkable a few weeks ago is now gaining traction: Milan are considering whether to renew Jovic’s deal, and it comes after a couple of positive appearances off the bench against Napoli and Fiorentina.
It has been a difficult campaign for the 27-year-old from physical point of view, given he was kept out first by lower back pain which recurred several times. It forced him to undergo surgery (at the end of November) and remain out for three months, missing 12 games.
Then there were other muscular problems which kept him out. All this came after he had his deal renewed by Milan last summer and he was given the No.9 shirt, but found himself third in the pecking order behind Alvaro Morata and Tammy Abraham (then Santiago Gimenez).
In an interview with Srpski Telegraf in Serbia (via Football Italia), Jovic’s father spoke about future, confirming there were offers from Besiktas and Trabzonspor in January, as well as Monza in Serie A.
“It’s all true. He ought to stay at Milan, but if many things change within the club, then there might not be a choice in the matter,” he said.
