Ruhr Nachrichten reports that Borussia Dortmund have already made it clear that Julian Brandt is still unlikely to be a part of the club’s future.
Dortmund’s desired solution for the number 10 position is still Lyon’s Rayan Cherki, who they tried to sign in the winter window and even considered signing the French under-21 international last summer. Sebastian Kehl wants to make a third attempt at signing Cherki.
Carney Chukwuemeka can also play in the number 10 role.
There is a chance that Brandt could stay at Dortmund is he performs in the final three games of the season, but even his performance against Hoffenheim at the weekend did not result in a rethink.
After scoring on Saturday, Brandt proceeded to do a ‘keep talking’ celebration in response to the recent rumours about his future at the Westfalenstadion.
In recent weeks, the 28-year-old has even been linked with a return to former club Werder Bremen. However, for a move back to the Weserstadion to be feasible, Brandt would have to take a large pay cut and the club would also likely have to qualify for Europe.
