Juventus take centre stage at Frecciarossa Game On - Women in Sport 2025 event | OneFootball

The evening of Monday, 5 May, was a special one in Rome, and it was one dedicated to the empowerment of women. As the Frecciarossa Game On - Women in Sport 2025 event was held, Juventus Women played a starring role.

Although the event itself doesn’t only relate to football, it was a chance for the Women’s Serie A to present its rebranding, with a new visual identity and logo being shown off that will help to take the league into the future. It was also the occasion of the league’s seasonal MVP awards being handed out.

Cristiana Girelli was the first guest speaker at a talk featuring iconic women of Italian sport, and was then named the Best Overall player of the 2024/25 eBay Women’s Serie A season.

It was a historic moment as well for Cristiana, as she became the first player to win the Best Overall prize twice.

“I’m very proud to receive this award,” Girelli said. “The team have had a great season and I’ve only been able to score so many goals because of the help of my teammates. The secret is in the work, but also in the fact that even still today, when I train and I play, I enjoy myself as if it were day one.”

Girelli wasn’t the only Bianconera awarded, with teammate Sofia Cantore named as the Best Forward of the season.

“Women’s football is continuing to grow, and this is seen in us players too,” Cantore said. “As players we’re happy to have this responsibility and to be able to be examples and inspirations for youngsters, not only for girls but for a lot of young boys too.”
