The opening 45 minutes saw Bremen, under the guidance of stand-in coach Patrick Kohlmann due to Ole Werner's touchline ban, frustrate the hosts with a disciplined defensive display. Bayern, despite enjoying the lion's share of possession, struggled to create clear-cut chances. Michael Zetterer in the Bremen goal was largely untroubled, with Kane's header just before half-time the closest either side came to breaking the deadlock. Bremen were forced into an early change when Jens Stage was replaced by Skelly Alvero in the 43rd minute due to injury.

Kane breaks the deadlock

The second half began with renewed vigour from Bayern, as Kane rattled the crossbar in the 46th minute. The breakthrough finally came in the 56th minute when Anthony Jung was penalised for handball in the box. Kane stepped up and coolly slotted home the resulting penalty, sending Zetterer the wrong way. The goal broke Bremen's resistance, with Bayern creating a flurry of chances as Bremen's resistance began to waver.

Sané seals the deal

As the match entered its final stages, Bayern's depth proved crucial. The introduction of Sané and Leon Goretzka in the 81st minute had an immediate impact. Within moments of coming on, Sané doubled Bayern's lead, finishing off a slick move involving Jamal Musiala and Konrad Laimer. The goal effectively ended Bremen's hopes of a comeback and cemented Bayern's control of the match.

Kane puts the icing on the cake

In the dying moments of the game, Musiala's mesmerising footwork drew another foul in the box, giving Kane the opportunity to add gloss to the scoreline. The striker made no mistake, confidently dispatching his second penalty of the night to complete his brace and seal a comprehensive 3-0 victory for Bayern. Bremen's new signing André Silva, who came on as a substitute in the 52nd minute, had little opportunity to make an impact against the dominant Bayern side.

Player of the Match: Harry Kane

Kane's stellar performance was the driving force behind Bayern's victory. The England captain not only scored two crucial penalties but was a constant threat throughout the match. His ability to link play, create chances, and finish clinically underlined his importance to the team. With seven shots on target out of a total of 21, Kane's relentless attacking presence kept the Bremen defence under constant pressure. However, credit must also go to Musiala, whose skill and creativity were instrumental in securing the final penalty, and Joshua Kimmich, who controlled the midfield with a pass efficiency of +4.79.
