Key Barcelona star expected to drop out of XI to face Real Sociedad | OneFootball

A leading member of the defensive ranks at La Liga giants Barcelona is expected to be afforded a rest in the club’s next outing.

That’s according to Diario Sport, who point towards Alejandro Balde as the player in question.

Barcelona are of course primed to return to action on Sunday evening, when they play host to Real Sociedad in a La Liga clash.

The Blaugrana head into the matchup in the knowledge that a three-point haul would see them retain their spot at the summit of the Spanish top-flight table.

The understanding, though, is that boss Hansi Flick is nevertheless planning to rotate his squad.

This comes after an intense 4-4 draw with Atlético Madrid in the Copa del Rey in midweek.

And as alluded to above, one such change is expected to come at left-back.

As per Sport, Alejandro Balde, fresh off a quartet of successive starts, is in line to take his place on the bench from the off at Montjuïc tomorrow.

Stepping in in place of the Spanish international, meanwhile, will be Gerard Martín.
